A selection of aged stocks from 10 to 15 years, matured in both American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and Matusalem olorosso sherry casks from Gonazlez Byass before a final finesse in premier cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques.
The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve has been designed with cigar pairings in mind. I would highly recommend enjoying it with a Partagas No2 cigar master distiller, Richard Paterson.
Old versus New
The Dalmore Cigar malt was a popular product a few years ago. The new Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve is significantly different:
Old: An assemblage of aged stocks, between 8 to 14 years old.
New: An assemblage of specially selected aged stocks up to 15 years Old.
Old: Matured predominantly in American White Oak bourbon casks, with only 60% of the liquid maturing in Oloroso / Apostles sherry wood for a period of just one year.
New: Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and Matusalem oloroso sherry casks from Gonazlez Byass before a final finesse in premier cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques.
Old: Abv is 40%
New: Abv is 44% to ensure that the taste profile of the liquid cuts through and harmonises with cigar smoke.
Aroma: Cinnamon, vanilla and red fruits
Palate: Tropical fruits, banana toffee & vanilla ice cream
Finish: Orange zest, bergamot and crushed spices
