Description
Tasting Note
Description – A sophisticated, well-rounded Port Ellen, precious as stocks dwindle. Not just for collectors. Pale gold in appearance with a faint green tinge and soft and textured in body, this distinctive dram is well worth drinking.
Nose – Gentle, without prickle. Herbal. Sea breezes. Seaweedy. Soft fudge and waxed paper, with a trace of peated malt behind. Fruit chewing gum, and a hint of linseed oil. Water brings up the waxed paper, and a hint of brown sugar.
Palate – Edible seaweed. Salty flavours reminiscent of some vermouths. Developing spicy notes. Drinks very well at full strength. Full bodied and pleasantly sweet; dries nicely, with traces of linseed oil. Very much sweeter – unusually so – when water is added.
Finish – A lightly smoky finish. Powerful, peppery, warming
